La Luna Gallery teamed up with Bluechips Microhouse and Asia Art Link to deliver the first ever Chiang Mai Art Connecting event. Thomas and Sabine Zimpfer, owners of both Bluechips and La Luna Gallery, sponsored the event to bring 19 artists from six countries to Chiang Mai to celebrate 20 years of operations for Bluechips and the soft opening of La Luna Gallery.
The workshop worked as an extension of those held in Vietnam under the banner of ‘Hanoi Art Connecting’ and is designed to be a recurring event giving Southeast Asian artists the platform to create, collaborate and exhibit their works in a new environment. Trinh Tuan, the founder of Asia Art Link, worked closely with the La Luna team to make sure that the most appropriate artists were selected to be a part of La Luna Gallery’s opening.
After spending a week painting amongst the mountains surrounding the Bluechips Head Office, the Chiang Mai Art Connecting artists exhibited their newly created works at two special events. The first was the 20 years celebration of Bluechips Microhouse, in which a pop-up gallery was held for customers, suppliers and friends to enjoy during the event.
The second event was the soft opening of La Luna Gallery, which featured a garden reception for guests and allowed the artists to present and explain their work in person.
With many international visitors present at both events and several artworks sold, the first Chiang Mai Art Connecting was the perfect way to begin La Luna Gallery’s re-opening under new management and provides a great framework for the second edition in the future.
